Darlington Borough Council Auditors Report Date: 20/12/2009   The Council received its annual high level Auditors report letter  in December 2009   Some of the headline statements follow:-   The general fund expenditure in 2008/9 was £132.3m against a budget of £133.7m   Revenue balances stood at £9.7m [ 7.2% of revenue budget ]   The council collected 96.8% of Domestic Council Tax and 98.3% of Business Rates.   The Council capital spend for 2008/9 was £49.2m   The Council scored 3/4 for use of resources-performs well   The council scored 2/4 for managing resources- Councils approach was adequate.   The Council scored 3/4 for Governing the business -systems were sound.   Summary: The auditors say " we are satisfied that,in all significant aspects,Darlington Borough Council made proper arrangements to secure economy ,efficiency and effectiveness in its use of resources for the year ending 31 March 2009"
