I see the first action of the new MP for Darlington is to waste as previously more taxpayers money.
She has resigned from her council seat which she did not need to do until the local elections in 2011.
This now creates a vacant seat which has to be filled and a by-election may be called.
All at great expense to Darlington Council taxpayers , the political parties who will have to fight another election and election weary residents having to put up with another round of door knockers.

We are suprised to see there appears to be two Labour candidates in Darlington.
One in red and one in yellow.
It is no surpise the one in yellow is toadying up to the socialists as the only way the yellow party will have any power is in a hung Parliament.
Minority power as that would be is giving the yellow brigade dangerous control to an unknown group of inexperienced politicians and should be resisted at all costs by the two main parties.
Don't forget if you vote yellow you will get four more years of Brown

The spin mistress , the Labour candidate has excelled in the art with her latest offering to the young people of darlington.
A leaflet targeting young people where she endeavours to be a peer is full of opinion ,lacks fact and like nearly all Labour politicians seems to believe this election can be won simply by referring to what the Tories did twenty years ago.
If I remember rightly the Tory achievement of that time was restoring Great Britain to a world power with one of the strongest world economies after the ruination of the nation by successive Labour politicians.
Isnt that where we are today so lets learn a lesson from the past.
Back to Miss spins letter
She says she " will put Darlington first " , her record unfortunately as a Cabinet member on Darlington Borough Council says differently-she put her socialist principles first many times at odds with what was best for Darlington and leopards don't change their spots!
We trust she is not claiming credit for increasing jobs in the North east, this was not politics but simple commercial decisions something which her party seems to distrust.
What follows is a list of non deliverables easy to say but difficult to do.
Finally she tries to play the class card , wake up , this election is about a single issue where are we going as a nation.

Liveried buses , large hoardings , newspaper adverts , public meetings and in excess of 150000 leaflets delivered to the residents of Darlington.
This is what the Darlington Conservative party have already done prior to the formal election period.
Why have we done this ? because we feel the most important issue of any election is to ensure whoever is elected can do the job of Member of Parliament.
Darlington Conservatives had a choice of six top class candidates who had been through the rigorous selection process conducted by Conservative headquarters.
Out of those six we selected Edward Legard because he is the best person to represent our Town in Parliament.
He was chosen because of his military background as a commended front line soldier in the Army.
Because of his legal profession carried out from York to Newcastle fighting in the courts for employment and human rights.
Because he has a good education and is an uncomplicated family man with family values living in the North East.
We felt he had all the necessary attributes to do the job well on behalf of all the Towns residents.
Finally of course he is not tainted with Darlington Borough Council leadership or by the absent MP Alan Milburn unlike the other contender for the job.

We now have Cllr Lee Vasey blaming the Tories for the UK's troubles even after her Socialist party has been in control for three terms.
She wants to fight an election using the past and that is not surprising as the future clearly has no interest for her.
How about remembering the iconic poster of that time -
" Labour isnt working"
and may be updating it to
" Labour still isnt working and so am I"

The Darlington Council Labour cabinet Schools admissions policy is collapsing due to the previous lack of care in calculating the number of future places needed.
The new Pupil referall unit, the Phoenic Centre has been given a devastating Ofsted report.
Plans are being made to transport children away from local schools to schools low on the choice list which therefore have empty places.
Taxis and paid carers will be used to escort young children to these schools.
This is the economy of the madhouse and who was the Cabinet member in charge of this Council department over the last year , the Labour party's Parliamentary candidate.
It's something to do with lack of awareness and inexperience!

£57 million for Darlington Schools.
When are people going to face up to the fact that this country is bankrupt, the debt incurred under this Labour government will be still around for our children's children to repay. Whether you believe that this due to political mismanagement of the healthy economy inherited from the Tories despite bleak economic times during their term of office or because of the general economic downturn, is irrelevant, the fact is that the country is broke.
We would all like new schools and new hospitals but we have to live within our means. If the £57 million for Darlington schools is affordable then I am sure that Labour will sign the paperwork to ensure this prior to the election being called. However if this has all been a cynical election gimmick designed to hoodwink Darlington parents then the paperwork will not be signed.
The schools in question need such high levels of investment because this Labour council has consistently neglected their upkeep. My daughter will be starting at Longfield in September, I would love the work to go ahead for the sake of her and all the children present and future who will attend those schools, however if the work is unable to be done then I will take comfort in the fact that its not about the buildings its about what happens inside them that counts.
And as far as Cllr Barker jumping on the Labour bandwagon, it just goes to prove if you vote yellow you get Brown.

Liked the Youtube vid, got the link from Cllr Wallis' blog and had a look for a laugh. Have to say theres more to your bloke than I first thought, he has been about a bit and has a bit of life experience. Not sure I am 100% yet but he's said the most so far that means anything.
Nice you have Nick Wallis doing your PR, his website has more references to the tory candidate than to the labour one, no surprises there as Nick probably thinks he could have done a better job himself but no-one would back him.

Fantastic video from the Tories summarising Edward Legard.
His life experiences clearly take him head and shoulders above the local councillor and local shopkeeper representing the other significant parties.
Perhaps we might be given similar briefs from these two candidates so we can see what they are made of.

Why does a Liberal shop keeper who comes from Reading consider he is a Darlingtonian and therefore a local lad for the purposes of a general election?
But then it is probably the qualities of candidates which count and not where they are born!
